Grasse 4-Bed Provencal Villa

This elegant and traditional Provençal villa sleeps up to 8 guests and has a wonderful blend of modern comforts and rustic charm. Located just a 5-minute walk from Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, and less than a half hour drive to Nice airport and a wide selection of beaches, the Riviera is truly on the villa’s doorstep. With a large swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space with both sunny and shaded areas, this 4-bedroom property is a wonderful choice for a group or a family holiday in the sunny South of France.

Set on its own grounds with olive, citrus and palm trees and mature lavender and rose bushes, the villa’s grounds offer excellent space for finding a perfect spot to either soak up the sun or simply read a book in the shade. There is a swing set and play area for younger guests and the grounds have stunning views of the surrounding rolling hills and villages as well as the magnificent Mediterranean Sea in the distance.

The large swimming pool sits just beneath the house and is surrounded by greenery which creates a naturally secluded feel. Two large parasols and several sun beds are provided and the pool can be accessed by stone steps leading down from the house to the two main poolside sunbathing areas, one of which also has a small seating area with a table for enjoying a poolside drink.

Just above the pool, a spacious terrace is equipped with several parasols and a dining area which has a wooden table and chairs to comfortably seat up to 6 guests. On the same level, there is further outdoor lounge space with comfortable seating in the shade of the villa. There is also a second dining area for 8 in a shaded part of the grounds offering another option for al fresco dining.

The villa itself is decorated in a Provençal style with soft colours and classic Niçois window shutters. The outdoor living areas have sandstone patios and attractive brickwork throughout. A series of large French doors lead from the terrace into the main living area of the villa. The large open-plan living and dining space is a bright room thanks to the large arched doors leading outside. Comfortable seating in the form of 2 large sofas and an armchair offer plenty of relaxing space in the living room.

The dining area consists of a large oval wooden table with seating for 8 guests. Two large arched windows open out from the dining area allowing plenty of light and air to enter so that dining indoors can still have an al fresco feel. The overall dining and living area is traditionally decorated with a comfortable and cosy atmosphere.

The separate kitchen is a charming feature of the villa and has typically French wall and counter tiling and a window opening onto the garden. Although the décor is traditional, the appliances, which include a large oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave, are all modern. A large gas barbecue is also provided for outdoor cooking.

The villa has 4 bedrooms which all continue the Provençal feel of the house with quaint décor and furnishings and traditional style linens. All of the bedrooms have sea views and windows which allow for pleasant air circulation in the summer months. Two of the rooms are double rooms with large beds and benefit from good light from large windows. The other two bedrooms are twin rooms, one of which has two standard single beds, an attractive vanity table and 3 windows looking out over two sides of the grounds. The other twin bedroom has slightly smaller single beds, which are ideal for children but still fine for adults, and two large windows also let in plenty of natural light.

There are two bathrooms in the villa, one with a bathtub and another with a walk-in shower and a WC. Both are decorated with white tiles and have modern fittings and there is a separate WC provided for guests’ convenience.

The property has an alarmed gate for added security, a separate utility room and parking for up to 4 cars. Set on high and slightly inland from the glamour of Cannes and the famous Côte d’Azur, the slightly quieter town of Grasse is just a 25-minute drive away and is particularly famous for its many perfumeries, of which Fragonard is perhaps the best known. A visit to the factory museum is a must for anyone with an interest in how these fragrances come into existence. Grasse is also known for its quaint squares and winding, climbing streets as well as its impressive daily markets.

Aside from nearby Grasse, guests visiting with a car can easily venture into any of the other charming towns and villages that surround Grasse. Food lovers will be spoilt for choice in both Mougins and Valbonne, both charming villages with strong gastronomic traditions which are situated just 15-minutes away.

For those in search of some sporting action, the villa is in the heart the region’s rich golfing country. Indeed within a 15-minute drive, no less than 8 championship standard courses are accessible. For those in search of less formal exercise, the natural park of Mercantour is just over an hour’s drive away and welcomes skiers in the winter and hikers and VTT bikers in the summer months. There are also of course many water sports available both in Cannes, Juan les Pins and Golfe Juan, again, all within a half hour drive.

Aside from the natural surrounding beauty, the property is also ideally located to explore the dynamic towns and cities of the Riviera’s coastline. Just a half an hour from Cannes to the east, the bigger city of Nice is a bustling seaside resort loaded with nightlife, culture and history. The same distance again to the east, the impressive principality of Monaco and the glamorous Monte Carlo is certainly worth a daytrip to see the playground of the rich and famous and the site of the legendary Formula 1 Grand Prix, held there every may.
