International Contemporary Art Salon, St. Tropez 2013

St. Tropez, traditionally a quaint, quiet fishing village in the south of France, gained international fame in the early 60s with the advent of sun-seeking starlets such as Brigitte Bardot. Since then it has remained one of the most popular destinations for the rich and the famous to relax and enjoy its lovely climate, charming port and stunning beaches. It has also become and understandably popular location for international events. Perhaps the largest of these is the ever-popular ‘Les Voiles de St. Tropez’ sailing festival, usually held towards the end of September.

Aside from water-based activities, St. Tropez has also had a long tradition of art trade. The highlight of the town’s social calendar from this point of view is no doubt the ‘Salon International des Artistes Contemporains’ where a selection of promising and established contemporary artists are given the chance to exhibit their work in the elegant setting of the Salle Jean Despas.

Works of painters, sculptors, photographers and plastic artists are all on display from the opening day, where the event is launched under invitation only. From then on, the exhibit is open from 10am to 9pm daily with a presentation of awards on the Friday evening, the 4th October at 6pm.

The event is organised by AIDAC 83 St. Tropez’s international art association, and 2013s event will also feature guests of honour, sculptor, Adrian Landon and writer, Jean Le Coz.
