Following several years of great success, the Open Air Cinema in Monaco is back again this summer to welcome families, film lovers and romantic couples to enjoy great movies in a unique location. Situated beneath a sheer Monaco cliff, not far from the famous Oceanographic Museum, the cinema overlooks the spectacular Mediterranean Sea, with the 200 square metre screen suspended against the rock face. Unlike some outdoor screenings in other cities where seating is minimal or not provided, the Monaco Open Air Cinema has 500 outdoor seats so the audience can sit in comfort and there’s even space for a glass or two of wine which is available along with snacks from the cinema’s bar.
Ticket prices are range from €8 to €11 and reservation is generally not necessary. It is recommended to get there early to get a good spot, but also to have some time to take in the breathtaking views.
A different movie is screened every night and they start at 9.30pm, as the sun sets over the Med. All screenings are in their original language with French subtitles and the programme consists mainly of current blockbusters such as Wolverine, The Great Gatsby and Pacific Rim.
