Les Plages Electronique is now in its 8th year and shows no signs of slowing down. The highly successful concept has brought electronic music to the masses by way of the beach in Cannes and is one of the few, if only, beaches in France to bring nightclub culture out into the open.
The beach in Cannes transforms into a giant dance floor for a summer long series of gigs to get you dancing. Previous years have seen the electro event staged to more than 57,000 spectators and it continues to grow in appeal.
Previous years have seen DJs such as Derrick May, Crookers, DJ Marky, Stamina MC, Norman Jay, Tiefschwarz (live), Lowkey, Noob, Dub Pistols Sound System, Boys Noize, Scratch Perverts, The Bloody Beetroots and Dirtyphonics.
With dates through the summer months of July and August, audiences can expect music themed nights of soulful house, techno, electropical and minimal and 2013 sees major players of the French electro scene such as Excuse My French and la Dame Noire play host to some of the official after show parties.
See international DJs such as Wankelmut, Miss Kitten and Vitalic VTLZR performing right on the beach. Tickets are from €15 with festival passes from €50. The venue is Plage du Palais des Festivals in Cannes and the party continues on into after-beach official club nights. Buses to Nice and other neighbouring towns are also put on between midnight and 1.30am at the very reasonable price of €3.
