Happy 2014 to you from the French Riviera
The traditional start of 'the season' does not arrive on the French Riviera until Hollywood comes calling in early May with the beginning of the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix soon after. It is a bombastic start to a long hot summer but the French Riviera is chock a block with 'goings on' all through the year for those that like to grab their sunshine out of season when the rates are lower and the crowds are negligible.

2014 will be a bumper year again in terms of activities, attractions and events especially wih the opening of the new stadium in Nice, Allianz Riviera, and on a smaller scale the numerous smaller concert halls that have recently been scattered though the towns and villages along the coastline in an impressive display of Frances commitment to the arts.

January is the season for high octane winter sports with eight ski resorts within a 3 hour drive from the coast open to those that like to 'do'. For those that prefer to watch then the Monte Carlo Rally rolls into town. Catch the hot metal in Casino Square where they put on an impressive display off hardware or for the hardiest fans take to the mountain pistes to study some serious driving skill.

February is all about Carnival in Nice. This years event is titled the King of Gastronomie and runs from the romantic 14th February until the 4th March. Rio it is not but the battle of the flowers, the night shows and the vivid, larger than life puppetry brighten any winter day and the kids love it.

March sees Cannes busy with their huge international real estate show MIPIM which is just one in a long roll call of prestige world wide trade shows from MIDEM music extravaganza, to the Cannes Lions advertising event, MIPTV, MIPCOM all via the crowning glory of the Cannes Film Festival.

Monaco continues to rev up the year in April with the petrol heads Mecca that is the Top Marques show. One of the only shows in the world where you can sign up to test the merchandise on the world famous Monte Carlo circuit no less. For those who don't have the guts or the bravado to get behind the wheel there are plenty of pretty pictures to be had if a Pagani Zonda is your typical pin up.

The Monte Carlo Tennis Masters is a tamer event in terms of horsepower but no less competitive as the worlds greatest tennis stars take to the courts. Will 2014 see Novak Djokovic continue his winning streak after he toppled the 8 year reigning Monte Carlo champion, Rafael Nadal?

May launches it all with the Monaco Grand Prix, the Cannes Film Festival and a Hollywood head count worthy of the Oscars. It is a delightful month on the French Riviera when the atmosphere positively buzzes with potential for the coming months.

June sees some sporting variety with international show jumping on the port in Monaco which is certainly a spectacle. It is a five star event needless to say and, as with all events in the tiny Principality, you get closer and more involved in the action than at any other venue in the world. June also sees the outdoor cinemas open their doors for film viewing al fresco.

July is always jazzy on the Cote d'Azur with both the Nice jazz festival and the longer running Jazz a Juan in Juan les Pins along with fringe concerts like the Jazz off, where younger musicians get to compete for a spot on the main stages. A chance to see new talent, older legends and current stars in intimate settings.

August is probably the most jam packed month with festivals, shows, events and artists from all over the world congregating on the French Riviera Shores from superstar DJ's like David Guetta, to living legends like Elton John and Lionel Richie playing to local audiences.

With food festivals, guitar festivals, orchestras, ballets, charity balls and art exhibitions the French Riviera has something for everyone and every age. The 2014 line up will no doubt be as full and glamourous as ever. Come and join us.
