Nice Promenade is the name given to the long sweeping seafront road that curves along the coast of the Baie des Anges, or Bay of Angels, that frames the city of Nice. It runs from East to West along the entire sea frontage of Nice city, from Nice Airport in the East to Nice Port in the West.

Nice Promenade is the heart of the city of Nice. Historically it was the meeting place in Nice, when the wealthy aristocrats of Northern Europe took their winters on the French Riviera, it was the place that the wealthy convened, ostensibly to take the sea air but no doubt to be seen too. If you weren't present on Nice Promenade at a certain time of year then it alluded to fortunes lost and situations become tenuous. Nice Promenade was the height of fashion and a must for the wealthy on the Grand Tour.
Today Nice Promenade is no less important in Nice but it now functions as a gathering place for the city residence as much as for tourists and visitors. It is everyone's front garden. In a city where apartment living is the norm, the Promenade is a meeting place for young mums, for loping teenagers, for wobbly toddlers, for foreign tourists, locals and people just passing through.
