The Monte Carlo Rally Historic is an annual rally event organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco. It is a competitive event staged for cars between the ages of 1955 and 1980.
The first historic event took place in 1997 and has been growing in popularity ever since. With competitor numbers averaging over 300 it appears that the appeal of the classics is in no way diminishing.
Spectators can expect to see old classics and some names that have disappeared from the roads altogether. Big names such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Porsche and Aston Martin will be well represented but also some almost forgotten names such as Auto Union, Oldsmobile, De Tomaso and Triumph will be in evidence.
The cars will complete numerous stages around the mountain roads surrounding Monaco as well as further afield. Parc Fermé will be on Monaco Port and the cars will be accessible for close up viewing.
The Automobile Club de Monaco organises several car racing events throughout the calendar year. These include the Monte Carlo Rally itself which takes place slightly earlier in January, the Historic Grand Prix which takes place in the second week in May, quickly followed by the big one - the Formula 1 Grand Prix - which takes place from the 22nd to the 25th of May 2014.
The Rally Monte Carlo Historic upholds Monaco's racing tradition that has been in existence since motor racing began in the early 1900's.
