Midem is a trade show for all sectors of the music industry. It's a chance for people to get together, talk, debate, analyse and forge new partnerships within the music industry.

It is held annually in the Palais de Festival in Cannes on the French Riviera and features exhibition stands, conferences, talks, listening sessions and live music showcases.

It is the place for music industry individuals to make contact, present and network their ideas, business and artists. The Midem event also features Midemnet which explores the online and digital side of the music industry.

MIDEMWorld is an online community for the event that is designed to put you in touch with the right people. At such a large event it can be difficult to navigate all the exhibitors and inside events. MIDEMWorld helps you to know who is at the exhibition, how to get in touch with them and help you to organise appointments and meetings. It is also a facility whereby you can showcase your own music or acts that you are presenting. It is a vital part of the show and especially helps newcomers to the MIDEM Show navigate it all for the first time.

The MIDEM Show also brings different events beneath it's umbrella with the opportunity to showcase new music, for use in advertisements or games, live performances from up and coming artists and music showcased from individual countries. There are also award shows, talent scouts and concerts. The event also invites some influential keynote speakers to inspire discussion and debate at the conference. In 2013 these included a range of speakers from different aspects of the industry including a classical musician, a punk rock record producer and the head of entertainment for mobile phone producer Nokia.

Ticket prices vary depending on whether you wish to attend the entire conference or simply attend one of the live music showcases or talks. There are also plenty of other events taking place over the course of the conference outside of the Palais which are organised by different venues. While MIDEM may still live somewhat in the shadow of the Film Festival, it still is a great time to see Cannes in all its international glory, with plenty going on and a wonderful festival atmosphere.
