MIPCOM is a meeting and market place for the world's entertainment content providers. This includes TV, digital media and new technologies. The event takes place in Cannes annually for 5 days usually around the beginning of October.
MIPCOM is the worlds largest meeting place for content providers where business is concluded, new partnerships forged, emerging markets explored and new technologies scrutinised. It is a showcase for young talent, old masters and rising stars in the TV and media arena.
With 21,000 square metres given over to exhibition space where 1700 exhibitors showcase their stuff. The event attracts in the region of 12,500 participants and features more than 100 countries and their media offerings.
The event hosts forums, screenings, networking opportunities and a host of sessions and key note speakers. Companies represented are some of the largest in the world including Disney-ABC, Miramax, Netflix, Channel One Russia, Warner Bros., BBC, RAI, France Television, Fox and Sony to name just a few.

It was announced this week that the Premiere of the long awaited ‘The Tunnel’ a TV co-production of Canal+ and Sky Atlantic HD, will take place at MIPCOM 2013 in Cannes this October. Stars of the show including Clemence Poesy and ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Stephen Dillane, will be present for a questions and answers session after the screening on October 7th.
MIPCOM is one of the largest growing events on the busy Cannes social calendar, welcoming the leaders in audiovisual and digital media from around the world to share ideas, trade programmes and develop partnerships within the industry.

The Monaco Yacht Show figures set record highs and it seems that MIPCOM, the media content market in Cannes, is following the upwards trend. Event organisers Reed MIDEM reported 12,500 participants at Octobers event as opposed to 11,500 in April.
There were 4,211 companies, hailing from 102 countries, represented at the MIDEM show this year. Kiefer Sutherland and Ashley Judd were in town to lend their star power to the event and to promote their new shows 'Touch' and 'Missing' respectively.
Television is attracting some heavy weight Hollywood superstars, as Judd and Sutherland prove television is attracting many big name stars who are recognising the opportunities in TV.

Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair Disney Media Networks and President Disney-ABC group has been named Personality of the Year at this years MIPCOM event in Cannes. The impressive business woman has a veritable swarm of awards and accolades to her name already and has already been titles one of the '50 most powerful women in Entertainment' by the Hollywood reporter, '50 Most powerful women in business' by Fortune and one of the '100 most powerful women' by Forbes.
She is due to give a key note speech this evening, Wednesday 5th, at the annual Cannes world's entertainment content market, better know as MIPCOM. She will make her speech at the 2011 event prior to collecting her Personality of the Year award. The speech will take place in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festival in Cannes beginning at 4pm Wednesday 5th October.
MIPCOM will conclude on 6th October. This years event has featured a 'Focus on Russia', 'Asian content exchange', 'Working in Latin America' a Producers' Forum and more than 45 sessions and keynote speeches. |
