It may be drizzly all over Northern Europe, but here in the South of France we are squeezing even more warm sunshine out of the Cote d’Azur as we move closer to the festive season. With a "Pa Rum Pum Pum" the Winter Wonderlands and Christmas markets will soon start to appear along the French Riviera, and the buzz is very infectious.
The Riviera is very festive at Christmas time, has great shopping, and you can even ice-skate on the beautiful Monaco harbour with a view of the yachts clearly in your sights.
The Christmas holiday decorations will be faithfully pinned into place in Cannes, Nice and Monaco where you will see stunning Christmas trees dressed in a thousand lights, giant sized sparkling baubles, and the red carpet isn’t just for film festivals...oh, no, it’s a Christmas season must.
Off to the shops we go, and not only to spend our money, but to stand in awe at the beautiful Christmas themed windows. Galeries Lafayettes take no prisoners with a scheme that mixes boudoir, acrobatics and lacy, see-through garments - all in the name of Christmas. We are excited to see what the fashionable stores will reveal for this year’s show-stopping windows.
The afternoon sun drops quicker in the Winter months and dusk is the perfect time to take a cosy walk along the Croissette or the Promenade des Anglais. The Christmas lights quickly twinkle away illuminating the night sky, and of course everything is all the more festive with a glass of bubbles or warm cognac with friends at the La Bastide de Saint-Antoine in Grasse where you can check out the Cigar Cave or a night at the Casino and a must-have drink at Cafe de Paris in Monaco.
From a festive hot chocolate at the Christmas market on Port Hercule, Monaco to the craft markets with log cabins, snow covered trees, and even a Ferris Wheel in central Nice, there is plenty to see and do. But at the end of a day there is nothing we love more than shutting the door, lighting all the fires in the house, putting on our cashmere tracksuit bottoms and preparing for the best bit of all, decorating.
Why not spend your Christmas on the Riviera and have the pick of the best properties at the lowest rates? Book now. |
