The date was 28th July 2013, the location was the famous landmark hotel The Carlton International, the crime was the biggest jewellery heist in history. 136 million dollars worth of jewels was swagged from a display in the hotel lobby. A hotel which was ironically also the setting for Alfred Hitchcocks 1955 movie 'To Catch a Thief'.
Now come reports of a €1 million reward offered up from the insurance company to anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the capture of the lone thief.
In an incredible show of bravado the single gunman walked into the hotel, pointed his gun at the unarmed guards, loaded up his swag bag and apologised to terrified staff explaining, "C'est la Crise". It took just 60 seconds and for one man at least the economic crisis is certainly over.
Now where did I put my black ski mask and squirty gun.
