"I drift into a dreamy summer slumber embracing the longer days, adoring the cute and barely-there sundresses and endless trips to the beach."
But it's not all so romantic, as the days can also be hot and sticky and donning fashionable hair can be a nightmare and there's no escaping the French Riviera heat from May until at least October. So work with that medium humidity for extra volume, messy up-do's, loose braids, or our current obsession - fishtail braids, and wispy buns that are as sexy as hell.
These styles prove you will look chic and alluring even when everything else is melting.
Forget the Bo Derek look, instead copy Jennifer Garner who sports a chic front loose braid pinned at the back and falls lose into her waves. Just make a side part and French-braid a front section of your hair. Tuck the end of the braid inside your hair and secure it with a bobby pin.
Top Tip: For effortless waves in your hair, spritz your hair with water or towel-dry after washing. Make a few fat braids, then leave them in overnight. In the morning, undo the twists, finger-comb and voila - you’re a beach goddess.
The tanned model on St Tropez's Pampelonne beach wears a fishtail braid which is easy to do without a mirror and swept over to one shoulder.
Reese Weatherspoon at the Cannes Film Festival wears a loose low bun at the nape, which the French call a chignon. This style transforms beautifully for the evening. For the beach, protect your hair by applying a leave-in conditioner and say bye-bye to fried ends. Then pull hair back into a tres sexy chignon.
The model (bottom right) dons a easily swept up style - perfect for wet or dry locks while posing pool-side. This is a very Sienna Miller look. This tousled knot is yet further proof that sometimes less is more.
