French Riviera airport increases passenger numbers
Posted on Tuesday, 18 December 2012
Nice Cote d’Azur Airport is the second busiest in France and has again reported increased passenger numbers.
The incoming passenger numbers were consistently up each month in 2011, the pattern has continued through 2012 thus affirming that the travel industry can’t get enough of the French Riviera. 2012 saw an average increase in passenger numbers of 10% throughout the summer months.
This is great news for the region and it is set only to improve as another new flight path to the Cote d’Azur has been confirmed for 2013.
Scandinavian Airlines has announced a new route from Gothenburg to Nice. As the largest Scandinavian airline, this substantiates the view that the French Riviera is seemingly immune to the economical climate and its renowned allure is as prominent as ever. The airline has predicted it will be a very popular route with the sun obsessed Swedes..
The French Riviera has maintained its luxurious reputation over these difficult economic years, clearly illustrated in the elevated statistics. It is still a prominent destination for both summer and winter holidays, with the closest ski slopes only 90km from the airport.
October, which is usually one of the quieter months, showed an increase of 5% in passenger numbers through Nice airport. In addition to this, December has already seen an impressive amount of snowfall allowing for promising predictions for the end of year numbers.
